About ten minutes ago the worst possible thought dawned upon me. I was innocently browsing through the various surf report websites and, like a brick to the head, it hit me. We are going through a drought!
Now don't get me wrong, I am not talking about a drought were all the lovely flowers dry up and people of the affected areas have to bath in a bucket. no, I'm talking about a particular drought that plagues the surfing communities like the black death. No waves!
According to the forecast we will not be enjoying an adrenaline filled surf for at least the next week and the mere thought of that depresses me. One might be able to get small waves at the various beaches that are known to be swell magnets but the predictions are not to good. The best bet is to hit the water on Saturday as the weather man predicts a 50% chance of an 8.5ft swell, traveling in a South West direction with intervals of 15 seconds, which is a good ground swell. The wind will be Blowing in a South Easterly direction, which is offshore for the majority of waves in the Mother City, but like I say there is only a 50% chance of those predictions being correct.
Whatever you decide to do to fill that gap inside you that is usually reserved for nose drips, big airs and deep pits, make sure it can keep you busy for a while because the next swell will only be arriving in a little over a week!
Oh wait! how about some salt in that wound! Enjoy this clip of super sick Shark Island when it went off last week!
