Roach Mania........

The day i realised i was a drop knee rider and not a prone rider, was the same day i happend to watch no friends 4, guilty by association and for those of you have seen the movie, will most definitely remember paul Roaches section!!!!!!!! in my opinion, that section sold the movie, it gave people the stoke and is 100% the best dk section in history. i remember this old lady from down my street, who used to scratch in bins and stuff looking for cool stuff, bringing to my house a perfect condition, 1994, riptide bodyboarding mag. in this version of the Riptide was a solid article of roach and the shit he was doing at the age of 16 was stuff riders couldnt do back then.....this post is a kinda tribute to the king of the knee!!!!!!!!!! the old school Photos are the best!!!!!

Al Tayler and the pipeline Bomb

Alister Taylor is one mad man that cultivates crazy boards and also tests them in the most harsh conditions the north shore can throw at him.... although in my many years of watching bodyboarding movies and reading mags i have seen him charging alotof big waves but today im not just sharing a big wave.... im showing you the start of a bodyboarding revolution ...the media have taken note of Bodyboarding on the NORTH SHORE which is a big step as surfing dominates that area....anyway check it out!!!!!!

sometimes a person has to just chill back and instead of focusing on hardcore bodyboarding, take time to look at the more artistic side of the sport. we are so blessed to have the ocean as our playground as there are so many amazing characteristics about the ocean that can just blow us away with every second we gaze upon its splender. so todays post is just going to be some really "artistic" shots of our sport.....

This is just such a cool water shot at the hoek. sunny day, blue skies and a cracker of a wave.....Cameron shows us how to go back hand and make it look good!!!!

Aden kleve and his brother Josh have really made names for themselves within the S.A bodyboarding scene and its plainlly due to the fact that they rip both prone and dk!!!! younger brother aden sent me this pic after he told me how good they got Kalk bay reef a few weeks back, and when i saw the photo i was super amped to post it .........so check aden in a bomby at the reef!!!!!!!!

when Mark Mccarthy is in the water its just super easy to sit back and watch him rip.....because that is all he does!!!! after speaking to him the other day he told me that he is getting ready for the last stop on the IBA tour which is in the Canary islands which has insane waves that were exposed in NF7 multiple choice....it has been a dream of mine to go there but until i get footage to share with you of that place, i have a really sicckkk invert of Mark to share!!!! photo by Ian thurtel

Drop knee is the best stance on a bodyboard and i always get stoked if i see okes shredding even if im in a heat and its not me doing the shredding!!!! heres a photo of Brad showing us how to ride lefts on the knee somewhere in the icy waters of cape town!!!! thanks to eugene vd elst for the footage

when i saw this photo i was super amped just to post it on the blog.....it takes cast iron ball to put yourself in a possision like jerry got himself into over here!!!! and not to mention the stories iv heard about okes bailing at this wave and then not finding there boards again???? could this be true????? but who cares the rewards exceed the losses and im sure jerry reeped the benefits of this take off!!!!!!

Vaughn drops bombs.......

south africa has such great talent wheen it comes to our sport. and all the time we keep finding out about new groms that rip and random okes that come out of nowhere! this is all dew to one factor within our sport that contributes to these peoples "stokedness" and thats rolemodels. by seeing someone completelly rip a session makes a young booger want to push himself.....
one of the people that got me to push myself this year, due to having to surf against him in trials, is vaughn harris. this oke could prb dk switch better than most people can forehand.....and in this photo he shows us how to take off on a bomb!!!!!!

Summer vibes!!!!!!!!!!

if you havnt noticed yet, the southern hemisphere is well on its way in terms of changing seasons.....yesssss it is almost summer and for my part of the world that means waves.
for some the winter was dry,harsh and unfriendly towards anyone that wanted to hit the beach or just frikken surf. although there were the odd days of good waves nothing beats summer vibes and i sure as hell cant handle the wait.
the last of the bad weather is hitting us and in about 3 weeks to a month it will just be sunny skies and south easter winds!!!!!!! as a teaser bellow is a small but perfect summer day at the second best spot in the overberg, caves. Melt hugo shows us how to ride a tube$$$$$

Last year Mark spent alot of his time in Australia competing in contests and working.... and when he wasnt doing those things i suppose he was free surfing with mates. one in peticular being Nic
Kruger, who is from the hood (hermanus) and lives in Aus. the pics that are part of this post were taken at nuggen one of the most famous waves in australia and thanks to Kruger i can show you a few sick photos of Mark.......

Shark island

australia is definite full of waves that cook all the time. from wedging sanbars to solid reef Aus has it all. here are some photos that came back from The land down under with Marthinus Botha of the island from a wierd angle...but none the less its pumping out there and im getting super amped to surf from just writing this post.....aaaaaahhhh!!!!!!

Onrus Banging!!!!

OK!!! Hold va horloosie, stop va clock!!!! what you are looking at has goto be one of the best days i have ever surfed the LOC headquarters (onrus beach)
this bank showed up on e wednesday and it cooked!!! we didnt think it could have gotten any better until the saterday of the same week came and it blew my mkind when i rocked up at the beach on dawn patrol.
1st thing i did was whipped out my phone to call Marthinus botha who brought his dad along, pretty good photographer. marthinus and i went in and his dad shot ........these were the results of that mixture!!!!!

about 2 3ft and wedging to the right .....

The Onrus Classic Boogyboarding contest

yes its another year that has gone by and there is no other way to end off the bodyboarding calendar than with the highly corrupt Onrus classic..... hahaha jokes
the classic will be taking place this december and again its going to be the same event with a super fet P.A system, fine honeys on the beach and good waves
but yeah the dates arnt finalised yet but as i find them out il blog them!!!!!

when i saw this photo that Mark Reitz sent me i couldnt believe id been surfing so close to it yet never even heard about it..... apparentlly this place is called shipwrecks and its somwhere between here and there....and im sure you have surfed the spot closest to it.....i couldnt believe my eyes when i found out where it is???????

What a cracker!!!
i was super lucky to scoop this wave in the final that happend at farmer burgers. the waves were pretty good that day and this hanbreak turn scored big!!!!

This is definitely one wave you have to surf before you die ....!!!!
pitty i cant say anything because it still is quite underground, although there were forty okes out this day....but none the less the fact that i was lucky enough to surf this as it breaks plus minus 3 times a year...

Outerpool..........what els can i say?

this was one of the days that i got outerpool good last year...my good friend johan ,who lives in mossel bay, has dial up internet and thats why im only sharing the photo now....i rate that dial up is stone age!!!!!!

When you live in a small town like i do you will always come around some crazy people that were born to make kuk with society...... some of them grow out of this behaviour but some dont hahaha.... the individual known as Kyle de Beer is one of the guys that will make you laugh that the tears ooze out you eyes

The Riptide sequence of death

Now the following sequence is NOT i repeat NOT to be tried anywhere anytime with anyone.....or you could most likelly end up dead..... Rider Josh Garner said that he was caughing up blood the day after he took this mutant ocean swell, and what he got out of it was the cover of the Riptide bodyboarding mag.... was it actually worth the pain?????
